Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz, who was born in 1980, presents two films this month in Kino Polska. IN DARKNESS (Agnieszka Holland, PL/G 2012, 25.2., guest: Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz) A sewer maintenance worker, who also gets himself and his family through with petty crime, rescues a group of Jews in 1943 in Nazi-occupied Lviv from deportation and murder. His initial motive is money but this changes over the 14 months of hiding. The plot goes deeper and deeper into the sewers where the persecuted people have found refuge. 33 SCENY Z ŻYCIA (33 Scenes from Life, Małgorzata Szumowska, PL/DG2008, 26.2., Introduction: Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz) Julia, a young artist, (Julia Jentsch) really has everything: success, a happy relationship and a loving parental home. But everything changes when her mother gets cancer and she has to re-organize her life. (al)
