FUCKING CITY (Lothar Lambert, West Germany 1982) shows four average people on their increasingly desperate search for sexual and emotional fulfillment in the urban jungle of West Berlin: Helga allows herself to be pushing into having sex with strangers and making private porn films by her husband Rüdiger, as he can now almost only get close to her via the camera. Her gay colleague goes looking for men in the Tiergarten, while his naïve sister who has arrived from the provinces develops erotic interests of her own in turn. Lothar Lambert became one of the key representatives of German underground cinema in the 70s with low budget productions like this one. FUCKING CITY is one of his darkest and most consistent works. To coincide with Lambert’s 75th birthday, the 1981 film will be showing in a digitally restored version for the first time. Guest: Lothar Lambert. (ah)  (29.7.)
