“I grow old ... I grow old ... // I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. // Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? // I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. // I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.” (aus: T.S. Eliot, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock)

The film collects documentary impressions of a man returning from years spent in Europe to his former home in the USA. A couple squabbles over a piece of cheese. Mermaids emerge from the swamps into the backdrop of trashy small towns. Filmed in 2008 and 2010 between Chicago and the Mississippi River.

Eva Heldmann, born 1951 in Dillenburg, lives and works in Berlin.
