The book “The Hanging Garden of Sleep” is a literary undertaking that cautiously seeks to approach sleep through inflecting three broad questions: the question of identity, the question of politics, and the question of language. Ultimately the book seeks to complicate the narrative of sleep beyond its simple reduction to dreams and dismissive negative stigma.

Haytham el-Wardany, born 1972 in Cairo, is an author who is currently living between Cairo and Berlin. He has recently published “How to Disappear,” which investigates different approaches to listening and the different manifestations of sound in society.
