The various relationships between Arsenal and Georgian cinema are complex and stretch far back into the history of our institution. Since the first week of Georgian films in 1975, Georgian films have repeatedly been shown in our cinema program and at the Forum, while prints of Georgian films have entered our distribution range and archive. One year ago, we presented a part of this collection in a comprehensive film series and were able to welcome numerous directors to discuss their films with the audience. These conversations with Lana Gogoberidze, Salomé Alexi, Merab Kokotschaschwili, Gela Kandelaki, Otar Iosseliani and Dito Tsintsadze, a panel discussion about Georgian films in archives, as well as an essay about Georgian film history by Ulrich Gregor and one about the history of censorship by Giorgi Gwacharia have now been brought together in a trilingual (German, English, Georgian) publication. It also contains a comprehensive list of the Georgian films in our collection.

The book has been released on October 12 by Erika and Ulrich Gregor and Lana Gogoberidse as a special guest at the Frankfurt Book Fair. For 12 €, it can be purchased at the Arsenal box office, at Dussmann Potsdamer Platz, in all book shops via the ISBN Number 9783944692142 and via email.

The publication has come into being as part of „Archive außer sich“ with the friendly support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgie as well as the Georgian National Film Center.
