Through personal ties with William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge came into the possession of a number of film cans. These cans, salvaged in 1980 by P-Orridge from the office of the then recently deceased filmmaker Anthony Balch, contained not only prints of the previously released Beatfilms, but also footage shot in and around the Beat Hotel at 9 Rue Git le Coeur in Paris. Calling on the help of his friend Derek Jarman, Breyer P-Orridge was able to identify and catalogue the footage, subsequently editing parts of it into the film Ghosts#9.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, born 1950 in Manchester, England, lives and works in New York, USA.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge/Tony Conrad/Morrison Edley: Concert

Two of the most influential greats of experimental music, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic-TV, Thee Majesty) and Tony Conrad, will come together on the stage of HAU 2. The two met for the first time while shooting Marie Losierʼs film The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, which will be presented in the Forum of the Berlinale, and discovered a lot of common ground in the way they approach music, sound, art, and life, as well as a shared love for the violin. Since then they meet irregularly for improvised violin duets. The percussionist Morrison Edley will be present as a third musician.
