The two films [Istenmezején 1972-73 ban und Egyszerű történet] had about five cinematographers. But you should know that it was Elemér (Ragályi) who worked on them the most. However, because it took us five years to make them, we needed more than one cinematographer. There was always something surprising happening - and event I had to attend, or Elemér had to leave for a job in Canada or elsewhere. So, a lot of letters were sent from Istenmezeje, also telegrams; sometimes someone phoned us to say that someone has just tried to commit suicide - Ilonka, for example. Then we had to go. Immediately. But not all of this was sudden or spontaneous. There were also lots of tiny matters for which we needed to show up, they informed me whenever something seemed important to them in the village. It usually took me one or two days to get there, because I had to put a crew together, get a camera, sound equipment, a car... We had to get going somehow. But by the time we got there, there was always something completely different waiting for us. Something even more interesting and more important than what I'd gone there for.
